Chemistry have performed at numerous venues across the South East, and as such we are very flexible around location. Travel expenses are included within our basic fee for work within a two-hour radius, and accommodation / travel expenses will be added for locations where we need to stay overnight.
We are as flexible as possible regarding space requirements, however we ideally need a clear area of approximately 5 x 3 metres, plus a long table to take the PA equipment (we typically locate this either to the side of the band, or somewhere near the dancefloor).
We have over three hours of music from which we will typically build two one-hour sets or three forty-five minute sets as required. Upon booking we will talk to you about the composition of your audience to ensure that the sets contain an appropriate mix of music. We will also discuss the required set-up, start and finish times to suit your particular event (although we're often required to be flexible on the night, should dinner/speeches etc overrun!)
The band typically wears either all black, or a combination of black and white jackets and shirts for the first set. Depending on the format of the evening, we will then change into funky 70's gear, complete with wigs … and may even morph into a group of geeky bottle-end-glasses-wearing chemists for your amusement! Whatever happens, expect to see Wendy in a series of sensational outfits. Please let us know if you have any particular requests ahead of time.
Chemistry is a fully self-contained function band, and as such we bring a full compliment of equipment – all we require is two separate wall sockets. Our PA system consists of a 4000 Watt bi-amped setup, with two pairs of speakers (2 Electrovoice bass bins & 2 Electrovoice SX300 speakers) which ensures a superb sound for small, medium and large venues. We also utilise a 24 channel Mackie desk along with professional reverbs, compressors, crossover, gates, enhancers and other effects to ensure the highest production quality available, plus additional equipment to enable us to play music throughout the intervals. For all but the smallest venues, the equipment will be monitored by our engineer, who will be on hand at all times to ensure the sound is of the highest quality, and – critically – set at the right volume level to suit your guests. Our setup is completed with a full lighting rig, twelve by eight foot backdrop and a smoke/haze machine (as required) for maximum dramatic effect and a party atmosphere.
We have specially prepared CDs which we play during intervals to ensure the party continues without us! We can also provide gentle background music as required (for example throughout dinner). Additionally, we can also supply an experienced DJ/compere who will provide a full disco facility to compliment the live music, and manage announcements throughout the evening. Our sound setup will outperform any conventional disco that you might otherwise choose to hire – the sound will be more akin to a 'club'–type setup (although volumes will always be controlled to suit you and your guests), so please don't spend more on a separate disco – it's just not necessary with Chemistry. Please call us to discuss your requirements.
Given a suitable notice period, Chemistry can perform special request (for example, for the 'first dance' at a wedding). If you would prefer the original, we can also arrange to play the CD. Please call to discuss your requirements.
We would please ask that a private room is provided for the band before and during the event (suitable for changing) and that bottled water is available for the band during the evening. We also require parking for five cars plus a single trailer near the performance area to allow loading and unloading of our substantial equipment. If we are required to leave for the venue before 5:30pm, we would also ask if possible that food & refreshments be available for the band at, or near, the venue.
Yes. Members of the band carry standard performers' insurance that covers for personal liability in the event of injury to third parties. Our PA equipment is also fully PAT tested (certificates available by request).
Our website is designed to give you a flavour of how we look and sound (including sound clips, photos, videos and – most importantly – the opinions of our previous clients). That said, we are told that nothing really captures the full sound, atmosphere and energy that you will experience on the night.
Chemistry occasionally performs at public venues and charity events, and we would be delighted to make arrangements for potential clients to come along and see us perform. However, the majority of our performances are for private functions, to which we are generally unable to invite guests. Please call for details of upcoming events and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
Please call quickly to check our availability for your event. Once this is confirmed, we will discuss your specific requirements and then send you a straightforward contract which clearly states everything that has been agreed. This is intended to provide you with a firm statement of our commitment and ensure that all your needs are met. Once the contract has been signed and returned, the booking is completely secure and chemistry will not accept any other enquiry for that date. Chemistry are proud to have a 100% performance record.
